Need to Know: School and Library Programs Start, Weekend Brings Blood Drive

This week, the kids go back to school and you can schedule an appointment to donate blood.

Here are five things you need to know in and around Newark through Sept. 4.

  1. Today marks the end of a three-month summer vacation for all students at Newark Unified Schools. Remember to watch out and stop for the crossing guards who will be on hand to help children cross the street at seven intersections near elementary schools.
  2. Come and do-si-do with the . The club meets and dances from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Newark Pavilion on Wednesdays. Click the link to learn more about the club or email information@farmersandfarmerettes.org.
  3. Two library programs will start up again on Friday. , which begins at 10 a.m., is offered to children 18 months to 3 years old and their parents. follows at 11 a.m. for children who are 3 years old to kindergarten age. Both programs will begin on Sept. 2 at the .
  4. A blood drive will be held at this Saturday. From noon to 5 p.m., you can come by the Food Court on the upper level of the mall to donate blood.
