Monroe Scheduled to Enter Plea on Monday
Newark man arrested on suspicion of murder faces one count of murder, according to senior deputy district attorney
The is expected to enter a plea at his next court appearance on Monday, according to district attorney officials.
Jason Otis Monroe, 33, is scheduled to appear in court with an attorney at 9 a.m. Monday at the Fremont Hall of Justice, according to Angela Backers, senior deputy district attorney with the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
Monroe was referred to a public defender, she added.
Monroe was arraigned Friday morning and faces one count of murder, according to the district attorney officials at the Fremont Hall of Justice.
Monroe was arrested Wednesday morning after a woman was found dead in a Newark home on the 36600 block of Cherry Street. Newark police said he was found in front of the home with his hands and clothes bloodied.
The . Police said she suffered possible stab wounds.
Police have yet to release the motive and the relationship between Monroe and Contillo, but neighbors said the two were a couple who had two sons together.
No additional details have been released, and calls to the Alameda County Sheriff's Office were not returned as of 2 p.m. Friday.
