  • Why Go: After a holiday hiatus, the Newark Farmers Market is back in action for all of your fresh produce needs.

  • Why Go: Celebrate the life and legacy of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in this early celebration of Martin Luther King Day.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: , 31224 Union City Blvd., Union City; Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Why Go: Make good on your New Year's resolution and sign up for a FREE seven-day trial membership. Stop by this weekend and try out the Sport Center's fitness room and participate in open gym sports. Personal trainers will be there to help you get a healthy start to the new year.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: , 32170 Dyer St., Union City; Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Let your kids kick some grass by signing them up for the Union City Youth Soccer League for children ages 4 to 14. The spring season runs runs from April 14 to June 23 with 8 to 10 games played on Saturdays. Practice sessions are held twice a week. You can also register online at www.UCYSL.org.
  • Pricing: Registration is $145 a player and $125 for each sibling. Registration includes a uniform.

The things I might buy for my classroom would be totally different than you. Running a classroom is a lot like running a business, there are expenses and you just have to deal with that.
