  • Why Go: If you are between the ages of 17 and 24, Tri-Cities Employment Training Academy is offering a special workshop that can help you achieve your education goals.
  • Pricing: Free to attend, varied costs to eat. Cash only.

  • Where/When: 2801 Hop Ranch Rd. in Union City; Saturday at 8 a.m.
  • Why Go: Whether you are a casual walker or a competitive runner, all races benefit all New Haven School Unified District’s co-curricular programs. Choose to take part in a 5K run or walk, 10K run or one of the kids' races.
  • Pricing: Free

OLD-FASHIONED COUNTY FAIR

  • Where/When: McConaghy House in Hayward; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Why Go: Take the whole family out to this historic house and enjoy games, music, antique dealer booths and a pie-baking contest.
  • Pricing: $5 for adults; $3 for seniors and students; free for children under 10 and free for Hayward Area Historical Society members

HEALTHY PARKS HEALTHY PEOPLE FESTIVAL

  • Where/When: Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont; Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Why Go: Bring the entire family to learn about outdoor recreation opportunities and enjoy a day in the park.
  • Pricing: Free

  • Where/When: Coyote Hills Regional Park; Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: Get up close and personal with butterflies, learn to create a wildlife-friendly habitat in your backyard and enjoy garden tours, educational speakers and slide shows.
  • Pricing: $5 parking fee
