Minor Hospitalized After Rollover Collision

A minor was hospitalized after a rollover vehicle collision occurred around 10:20 a.m. Saturday on Newark Boulevard between Lafayette Avenue and Ruschin Drive. Police said the three occupants of the SUV were traveling northbound when they hit a parked vehicle that was parked on the curb. The minor was treated for minor injuries.

Police are looking for a man after a man was robbed of his wallet at gunpoint outside of his residence Friday evening. The man was pulling out of his parking stall on the 6300 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue when a man approached him and pointed a small, sliver gun at the victim just before 7 p.m., according to a statement. about the suspect’s description.

Three Girls Arrested after Fleeing from Mall Security

Three female minors were arrested after NewPark Mall security saw the trio inside of a car with a smashed window and hazard lights on in the Sears parking lot around 10:25 p.m.  Thursday. Mall security officers tried to approach the girls, who all fled on foot but were detained shortly after. The vehicle’s owner was contacted and confirmed that the incident was an attempted theft. The minors were found to be in possession of burglary tools and stolen merchandise from stores at the mall. The trio was arrested on suspicion of a variety of crimes.

Police are searching for a man after a resident reported his home was burglarized Thursday afternoon, authorities said. The resident said he heard a loud bang coming from his front door around 12:45 p.m. on the 35500 block of Haley Avenue and that shortly after, the resident went into the home's garage and was confronted by the male suspect, who then fled, according to a Newark Police Department press release. about the suspect’s description.

A joy ride for one teenager didn't end happily early Thursday morning when he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Police said officers responded to the 36700 block of Cedar Blvd. just after midnight to a report of a hit-and-run and learned the 17-year-old crashed through a brick retaining wall then fled on foot. He was eventually arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and a hit-and-run.

Burglary and Theft

Police investigated a home burglary on the 36300 block of Concord Street was around 11:20 p.m. Sunday after a resident reported a number of electronics were stolen between 9:50 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. after someone entered through an open bathroom window. The loss included a MacBook laptop, a PlayStation 3 and a Wii.

A 46-year-old Newark woman was arrested and cited on suspicion of petty theft out of Home Depot around 6:20 p.m. Sunday.

A 21-year-old Oakland woman was arrested on suspicion of petty theft out of around 7:45 p.m. Friday and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

A man’s laptop computer was reported missing out of his vehicle around 1:45 p.m. when he returned to his car at the Bombay Gardens Restaurant on Mowry Avenue and saw his window had been smashed.

A woman’s purse was stolen out of her vehicle at between 11:05 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. Thursday.

A 45-year-old Jordan man was arrested on suspicion of petty theft out of around 2 p.m. Wednesday and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

Two homes were evening. The first was reported at 6:50 p.m. on the 35800 block of Spruce Street, and the second was reported around 7:20 p.m. on the 6100 block of Marguerite Drive.

Drugs and Alcohol

A 21-year-old Newark man was arrested and cited on suspicion of drunken driving at the parking lot after an officer saw him driving “erratically” around 1:22 a.m. Sunday.

A 28-year-old Mountain House man was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public after police responded to a disturbance around 2 p.m. Saturday at the .

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine and was booked into Fremont Jail.

A 26-year-old Fremont woman was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and resisting arrest after police responded to the Newark’s Lakeshore Park pathway around 10:20 p.m. Thursday to a report of a noise disturbance. Police said the woman was one of a group of “heavily intoxicated individuals” and she was taken into custody after she refused to cooperate with officers.

A 30-year-old Newark resident was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and a hit and run after police investigated the hit-and-run accident around 3:20 p.m. Monday and was booked into Fremont Jail.

Miscellaneous

A man was hospitalized after a multi-injury accident happened on Cedar Boulevard near St. Mark Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

Police were dispatched to Swiss Park after a report of a disturbance that involved a “large gathering or rap party” with hundreds of people around 1:40 a.m. Sunday. Security called to say that numerous individuals were yelling and pushing in the parking lot. Police did not find evidence of an assault took place when they arrived and the party ended at that time.

Police assisted Alameda County firefighters with traffic control after a chemical leak was reported at Evergreen Oil around 8:50 a.m. on Friday.
