Sprouts & Shutters: NewPark Mall Welcomes Fitters and Aria Bazaar

Sunglass Hut and Bakers shoes have closed

Changes at NewPark Mall continue with shops closing and opening at the only indoor shopping mall in the Tri-Cities.

Recently, Bakers Shoes, known for selling women's footwear, and the Sunglass Hut store on the lower level of the mall have closed.

The good news? Sunglass Hut's kiosk at NewPark remains open on the upper level of the mall next to the food court. And that’s not the only breath of fresh retail hope.

Taking the place of Bakers Shoes is Fitters, which offers hats, apparel, accessories and streetwear from boutique brands not often found in malls, including The Hundreds and Mighty Healthy.

Fitters, which is located on the lower level of NewPark next to the Disney Store, joins NewPark after closing its location at Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara, according to the store’s manager. The nearest Fitters location to Newark is at Southland Mall in Hayward. For more information about Fitters at NewPark, call 510-797-2487.

Aria Bazaar is also one of the latest additions to NewPark Mall. Located on the lower level next to T-Mobile, Aria Bazaar sells various types of jewelry including gold, silver, rhodium and other precious stones, according to its website. For more information about Aria Bazaar, visit www.ariabazaar.com, call 510-371-6975 or click here to like its Facebook page.

The mall’s children’s play center and the long awaited Rasputin Music Store have yet to open.

Don't like it at all. "Change" isn't always for the better.
