Take a memorable trip for a day without leaving the comfort of the Bay Area. This week, we're checking out "stay-cations" for individuals, couples, co-workers and families. You won't need a plane or train ticket to get to these local hotspots. Added bonus? Some of them are free.

Patch Picks: Stay-cations

1. : Spruce up your stay-cation by staying the night in this local hotel. Tthe best part? You can bring your pets along for the night. The W Hotel features pet-friendly rooms, a hotel and bar and all of the other conveniences of spending the night somewhere other than home. So take advantage of room service and cleaning ladies and have a stress-free night in.
2. iFLY: Want to take a flight without actually going anywhere? Union City’s iFly offers indoor skydiving for the whole family without actually jumping out of a plane. Children must be at least 3 years old to participate. No experience is necessary.
3. Fremont Museum of Local History: Learn more about Newark, Union City and Fremont by visiting the Museum of Local History in Fremont. The museum, a non-profit run by volunteers, serves as both a museum and a library for historical books and documents. Some featured exhibits include information about early elementary schools, film-making in Niles, Ice Age mammal fossils found at the nearly Bell Quarry and more.
4. : Take a trip to the computer history museum in Mountain View and learn more about the history of computers. Explore the museum with a self-guided tour of current displays and "old-time" computer hardware and software. Thirty-minute tours are offered by the museum. Groups of 10 or more should make a reservation for a guided tour. General Admission tickets are $15.00. Tickets for seniors 65 years and up, students with ID 13 years or older, and active military with ID are $12.00. Museum members and children 12 and under are free. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
5. : Take in some art and enjoy the local scenery of Half Moon Bay by attending the monthly art walk, an evening gathering of gallery walkers that can help casual viewers learn more about art while socializing and sipping wine with other participants. So grab your kids, spouse, friends and coworkers and enjoy art and conversation for free on select Saturday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Located at 300 Main St., Ste. 6.
