Newark's Hometown Buffet Spared

Buffets, Inc. announces the closure of 81 Hometown Buffet restaurants. Union City's location has closed.

Tri-City residents craving crunchy fried chicken and gooey mac-and-cheese from Hometown Buffet can now only fulfill that food desire in Newark.

According to the Sacramento Business Journal, 81 Hometown Buffet restaurants were ordered to promptly shut down by its parent company, Buffets, Inc., a Minnesota-based company that runs several chains across the country.

Union City's Hometown Buffet on Decoto Road was among those restaurants.
