In Photos: Inside the New Century Theaters

Fremont's Century Theaters at Pacific Commons opens at 10:30 a.m. Friday.

Hollywood movies have returned to Fremont in the form of a 16-screen, all-digital movie theater.

Century Theaters at Pacific Commons officially opens at 10:30 a.m. Friday with grand opening celebrations and promotions being held all day Friday and Saturday.

Hundreds gathered at the movie center located at 43917 Pacific Commons for a soft opening Thursday and described the facility as classy and beautiful.

The theater features a self-serve concession stand and wall-to-wall, ceiling-to-floor screens with leather seats inside each theater. for more information about this weekend's grand opening.

Today PG&E told me that about 3,000 customers (homes and businesses) in Newark and Fremont were…Read More without power from 7:57 p.m. to about 11 p.m. (I think ours went out a few minutes before that and I'm sure ours came on before 9 p.m. I suppose maybe some of those 3000 folks were out longer as they brought neighborhoods back up gradually, but my guess is that some bureaucrat guessed at the beginning that the outage "should" last 3 hours, and that became historical "fact.") due to a "device failure." (Now that's informative. My guess remains that wind was involved.) They called and left a message on my Comcast voice mail to let me know the power was out and that it should be back on by 11 - but my phones require power so I didn't get the message until this morning. I just called PG&E to change the number they call with such notifications to my cell, but they were able to clarify nothing else. Anyway, in case you were wondering, that is what PG&E now says happened.
