5 Things You Need to Know This Week: May 2-7

Clubs, guilds, boards — all part of the fabric of Newark life. Attend a meeting this week and learn more about what your community has to offer.

At the start of every month, clubs get together for their monthly meetings. Get involved in the community by attending one of the meetings listed below. Some featured organizations meet more frequently.

  1. Grab a pizza and attend the at , 5544 Thornton Ave., on Monday, May 2, from noon to 1 p.m. The Ambassadors, who help at all Chamber events, meet on the first Monday of every month at noon at Round Table Pizza. For more information, call 510-744-1000.
  2. There will be a on Tuesday, May 3, at 6:15 p.m. at , 35660 Cedar Blvd. The nonprofit organization, which promotes quilt-making, is scheduled to meet on the first Tuesday of every month. Members get together early to socialize, while the meeting runs from 6:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. For more information, click here.
  3. Attend the meeting this Tuesday, May 3, at 12:15 p.m. at , 36665 Cedar Blvd. Newark’s Rotary Club focuses on club, community, international and vocational service. The club meets weekly on Tuesdays. Email info@newarkrotary.org for more information.
  4. Attend the on Tuesday, May 3, at 7:30 p.m. Attendees can take an active role in the school district by attending meetings in the , 5715 Musick Ave. Board agendas and minutes can be viewed at the NUSD website.
  5. is scheduled for Wednesday, May 4, at 7 p.m. Members of PALS (Parents and Lincoln Staff) work together to enrich the educational experience of Lincoln students.
