Public Art at the Newark Library

Brian Edwards is the branch manager of Newark Library. In this blog post, he announces that new sign is coming to the Newark Library. Cast your vote!

If you’ve been in the library the last couple of weeks you may have seen our display for a new sign for the front of the Newark Library. What is this all about?

Well, a few months ago I met a local artist named Adrian Litman who was interested in donating a piece of artwork to the community.

Adrian has lived in Newark since 1983 and has done many public art commissions throughout the Bay Area.

Currently, Adrian does not have any public work in Newark.  We met a few times to discuss the best place to install art inside or outside of the library.

From there we looked at creating an inviting entrance to the building, something that was visible from the park and those visiting the Civic Plaza.

Public art is part of our cultural capital, and it is important that we continue to have a dynamic community where people want to visit, live, eat, and shop at.

There are currently three design options.

Please stop by the Newark Library and cast your vote by December 8, or email bedwards@aclibrary.org to cast your vote and to add any questions/comments.

You can read about his previous art projects: and from the Milpitas Patch.
