Government shutdown: do you feel it yet...and how about now...
Sooner or later, I predict we will all feel something. I guess there is a clock ticking away dollars by the millions right now, and that money certainly could have been put to better use.
Today I thought I would walk my dog at Don Edwards Refuge. Since it is managed by Fish & Wildlife Department I was met by a sign announcing it's closure. Forgot about that...Impact: just mildly irritated (seemed worse that the friend of a man I chatted with had -allegedly- been harassed by a ranger for entering yesterday, today he was jogging back and forth in front of the gate).
My husband needs to access government websites to do his work. Impacted: he seemed quite irritated by it yesterday.
I heard a daycare manager yesterday on NPR who had to close the doors to frantic and desperate parents not knowing what to do. Impact: chaos!
Two days ago there was a story of how a search, for a 69-year-old physician lost somewhere in the Craters of the Moon National Monument, was hampered since all rangers were furloughed (but could volunteer for free with waivers). Impact: anguish!
On The Daily Show there were clips of Sean Hannity and other FOX pundits giggling, saying they didn't feel a thing...shows how useless government is. Impact: disgust...felt by viewers, hopefully.
