Journey to Miss California: Five Weeks Until the Pageant Starts!

Update on my progress for Miss California Pageant representing Newark, CA

Hello friends and family! I wanted to give you all an update on my Miss California Pageant journey.

Earlier this week I attended the official Miss California Orientation. I learned a lot of valuable information. I was excited to see the other 200 beautiful women that will be running.

It was also exciting to see last years winner, Natalie Pack. She spoke and gave us all some great tips on how to do well in the pageant. We were informed about what the judgement criteria would be in greater detail. The preliminaries will be held on Saturday, January 12th.

All the women will first be judged in swimsuit, then in interview, and ending with the evening gown segment. The following day, Sunday, will be the finals. All the women will be on stage for the finals, but only the top 20 will ranked by points.

The top 20 will first compete in swimsuit, then there will be an elimination. Then the top 10 will compete in evening gown, then there will be an elimination. Then, the final 5 women will compete in interview live on stage! And then winner will be announced. The pageant is in 5 weeks! I’m really excited, and can’t believe the time is almost here.

Thanks to all of your help and support, I have raised $1,800 that I used to cover all the pageant entrance fees. My goal is to raise another $1,000 before pageant weekend 1/12/13.

Please keep donating; I need your donations now more than ever. The more money I raise the better chance I have at doing well in the pageant.

There are still a lot of expenses I have left to pay for such as travel, cosmetics, wardrobe and alteration fees that I am currently having to pay out of pocket. If I receive more donations that is more time I can devote to preparing myself mentally and physically for the pageant.

My goal is to at least place in the top 20, I really believe I have an excellent shot at accomplishing that but aiming to walk away with the crown.

The Miss California Pageant Tickets will be going on sale this week via ticketmaster.com, they currently aren’t on sale yet but keep checking ticketmaster. The ticket prices range from $60 to $120.

The pageant sells out quickly so I urge you to buy your tickets as soon as possible. For those of you that can’t afford to come to the pageant, the pageant will be available on payperview, and will be posted online via a live web broadcast. I will post more details about that information very soon.

With five weeks left to go I am currently working daily on various things so I will be at my top level by pageant weekend. Here are some of the things I have been doing to prepare myself physically and mentally; Im currently doing circuit training workouts 4 days a week at the gym that combines resistance training and cardio. I have continued eating a well balanced diet with lots of fruit and raw vegetables, fish, eggs, no dairy, all organic. Reading and watching the news daily to stay updated on current events. I visited Sephora and have created a new skin regiment that has been working great. I also bought some new makeup for the pageant that is long wear, water proof and healthy for the skin. I have been practicing doing my makeup and hair, because all the contestants must do their own hair and makeup and cannot have any assistance from other people.

More updates coming soon! Check back if you want to stay in touch with my progress

Love,

Ashley Balderston

Just a short thought to get the word out quickly about anything in your neighborhood.
Share something with your neighbors. Write a new post... What's up? Make an announcement, speak your mind, or sell something

Power goes out all the time in my area off Mayhews and Willow. I have filed numerous complaintsRead More with PG&E. It was off for two days a month ago. All underground lines and goes out at least 2 times a month. Have to reset my clocks, wifi etc. very irritating.

There's been some construction going on at the north end of Lake Blvd, just before the freewayRead More overpass leading into Ardenwood Park. That's been going on for about the last 7-8 business days.

Today PG&E told me that about 3,000 customers (homes and businesses) in Newark and Fremont wereRead More without power from 7:57 p.m. to about 11 p.m. (I think ours went out a few minutes before that and I'm sure ours came on before 9 p.m. I suppose maybe some of those 3000 folks were out longer as they brought neighborhoods back up gradually, but my guess is that some bureaucrat guessed at the beginning that the outage "should" last 3 hours, and that became historical "fact.") due to a "device failure." (Now that's informative. My guess remains that wind was involved.) They called and left a message on my Comcast voice mail to let me know the power was out and that it should be back on by 11 - but my phones require power so I didn't get the message until this morning. I just called PG&E to change the number they call with such notifications to my cell, but they were able to clarify nothing else. Anyway, in case you were wondering, that is what PG&E now says happened.
He will probably be scared at first but he comes for food

I remember as a teacher buying my own supplies. Looking back I don't regret buying anything andRead More realize that each person's teaching style is different. The things I might buy for my classroom would be totally different than you. Running a classroom is a lot like running a business, there are expenses and you just have to deal with that.

Good to know. Thanks, Nika!

It's definitely a great photo! We didn't anticipate it to stretch like that. We'll change itRead More eventually, but your friend should have enough time to check it out, John.

James, I completely understand and agree. The image is stretched beyond the dimensions it was meantRead More to be viewed, but it was a pleasant surprise to see the photo at the top of the page! I hope it stays up for at least another day so my friend can see it. Thanks for your reply.

One story I tried to read had an ad covering 1/4 of it, and there was no way to make it go away.
Daniel May 17, 2013 at 05:17 pm
Don't like it at all. "Change" isn't always for the better.
