Newark Pavilion to Host Lohri 2014 Festival

People in the Tri-City Area are organizing a Lohri festival that will be held at the Newark Pavilion in January 2014.

The event is a popular Punjabi agricultural winter festival that will feature singers crooning traditional Lohri songs, dances, and family-friendly activities, said Nadia Dhillon, event outreach coordinator. She said the festival would be the first of its kind in the South Bay.

It promises to be a spectacular sight.

"For Lohri everyone wears vibrant bright clothing," Dhillon told Patch. "We will have lots of food, shopping for jewelry, clothing, and Henna artists. Children as well as adults will perform on stage. We'll have special celebrations for newly wed couples and newly born babies," she added.

The event will take place from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 19, 2014 in the Newark Pavilion, located at 6430 Thornton Avenue in Newark, California.

Tickets are $15 per person.  Children under five get in free.

For tickets and information call Kuldip Sandhu at 925-829-4164.
