'Newark Days' Organizers Share Road Closure Maps

The City of Newark's annual birthday party promises to jazz up the weekend and close a few roads.

The City of Newark is celebrating the city’s 58th birthday with a parade, a carnival, and a “Jazz Hot Stage.”

The festivities start on Friday, September 19 and run through September 22.

More than 200 volunteers banded together to organize this year’s event, which has been dubbed “All That Jazz!!!”  (Yes, the official program has three exclamation points.)

Organizers expect more than 100,000 people to attend the four-day celebration that will feature food, games, and local family-friendly entertainers.  Here is the schedule.

The City of Newark will be closing several roads to accommodate the annual Newark Days Parade, which will take place on Saturday.

Between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., these roads will be closed:

-All northbound lanes of Newark Blvd between Central Avenue and Cedar Blvd.
-All southbound lanes of Cedar Blvd from Newark Blvd to McDonald Avenue.
