Acclaimed artist Diego Marcial Rios returns to NewPark Mall’s Cultural Corner with a Dia de Los Muertos inspired art exhibit.
The Newark artist will showcase works inspired by the Mexican holiday. During Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead in English), families pay respect to friends and relatives who have passed on. The holiday is observed on Nov. 1 and often celebrated with macabre costumes and imagery, such as skeletons and skulls.
Rios’ exhibit, similar to the one featured last year, will include paper mache masks, including his Blue Mayan Mask and Mask of Fire, along with two paintings. Rios will also paint live during the exhibit and answer questions from the pubic.
The exhibit will be featured in the mall’s popular Cultural Corner on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
