“The Croods,” a computer animated comedy released earlier this year, will be shown next month on July 19, with classic 70s musical “Grease” closing out the series on Aug. 23.

Movies in the Park supports Newark’s Relay for Life, a 24-hour run/walk fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. Similar Relay for Life events are held in cities across the nation.

Newark’s Relay for Life will be held July 20 at Newark Memorial high School. In addition to the relay itself, the event will feature a number of fundraising activities, games, entertainment, and celebration and remembrance ceremonies.

Though the event is a month away, participating teams begin fundraising and hosting community events months in advance.

So far, more than 100 people in more than 20 teams have signed up to participate in Relay for Life, with $13,000 already raised for cancer research, according to the Newark Relay for Life website.
