The Price is Right: Swim Centers

Where to take the plunge this summer.

The weather is heating up—and so is swimming season. Check out the Tri-City centers that offer public swimming and find out how much you’ll need to pay for your dip.

Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center, Newark: The offers  for the entire family.

Friday through Sunday, one price lets you swim in any of the indoor pools. Open swim is available Friday, 5-8 p.m.; Saturday, 1-7 p.m. and Sunday noon-5 p.m. Open swim admission is $5 to $8 per day.

Other passes are also available: 20-visit, three-month, six-month, annual, family. Prices are based on age. A price list is attached at right.

Aqua Adventure Water Park at Lake Elizabeth, Fremont: The Aqua Adventure Water Park at Lake Elizabeth opens for weekend swimming on Saturday, May 21. A season pass is $74.99 ($69.99 for Fremont residents) and are good May 21 though Sept. 25.

A day pass is $16.99/$15.99 for anyone over 48 inches tall. A junior day pass is $11.99/$10.99 and for ages 2 and under, $2 (which includes a swim diaper). Spectators pay $8.99, including a refundable deposit.

Lap swim runs Saturday, June 18, through Saturday, Aug. 27, and costs $6 per visit without a season pass/$4 with a pass. A ten-visit lap swim card is $50 ($30 for season pass holders).

Family Fridays begin July 1. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., it's $7 per person.

Dan Oden Swim Complex, Union City: Lap swim and recreational swim are available at the in Union City. The Olympic-size outdoor pool is open to the public when not being used by the students at 

Recreational swimming runs June 27 through Aug. 20, Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, 1:30-3:30 p.m.; Friday, 1-3 p.m. The cost is $3 per person; a 20-swim swim pass is $50.

Lap swim is also available for $3 per day ($2.50 for seniors). A 10-swim pass is $25 ($20 for seniors).
