Patch Picks: Easter Activities

Easter activities began this past weekend in Newark with a family day at Community Center Park on Saturday. Next weekend there are an array of Easter-related activities for the whole family including church services, Easter egg hunts and tap dancing bunnies.

      1. : On Easter Sunday, April 24, Bay Area Baptist Church is hosting a day of Easter-related events starting with Bible classes for children, teens and adults at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m. there will be a special Easter service with Pastor Jeremy Stalnecker as well as an Easter celebration for kids including games, pizza, prizes and an egg hunt. At 6 p.m. there will be a special evening Easter service. Register for the egg hunt online

      2. : The Kennedy Community Center in Union City is hosting their annual Spring Egg Hunt Extravaganza on Saturday, April 23, from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The event will include egg hunts, a mini carnival, Scholastic book fair, snack bar, games and raffle prizes. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will lead the egg hunt and each participant will go home with a bag of goodies.

      3. St. Anne’s Episcopal Church: At Anne’s in Fremont will host Easter-related services on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday at 8 p.m. the church will host the Great Vigil of Easter and on Sunday at 10 a.m. there will be an Easter Sunday worship service followed by an Easter egg hunt for the kids.

     4. Children’s Fairyland: Head into Oakland for a special Easter presentation called The Tap Dancing Easter Bunnies on Saturday at 11:30 a.m., at Children’s Fairyland, 699 Bellevue Ave. To celebrate “Bunny Weekend” there will also be Critters by the Bay walk-around bunny characters on Saturday and Sunday.
