Neary 1,000 people attended Hayward Executive Airport's open house on Saturday. The event featured vendors, food, music and more.
Among the highlights were several members of the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African American World War II pilots, who were on hand to share stories about their past.
On the tarmac, personal aircraft were on display. There were also free airplane rides for children.
"The main purpose of the event is to draw the community to the airport," event coordinator Ben Henderson said.
