In Photos: Catchin' Fishies For Fun

More than 100 people attend the city's first Youth Fishing Day of 2012.

Families gathered round Newark's with fishing poles in tow for Youth Fishing Day on April 14.

It was the first citywide fishing event of the year, but it won’t be the last The City of Newark hosts two Youth Fishing Days a year – one in spring and one in fall.

Newark’s manmade lake was stocked with approximately 500 pounds of live trout and 400 pounds of catfish, according to Recreation Coordinator Bryan Cobb.

And volunteers from the Tri-Cities Anglers and the city’s recreation department were on hand to help the dozens of people who attended.

Deborah Land Management of Cargill also provided supplies for the event. See photos and add some of your own to the gallery above.
