Hail, Rain Pelt Parts of Alameda County
The rain will likely taper off until Thursday

Small hail pelted parts of the Bay Area this morning and a significant weather advisory was issued for San Francisco, Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
Around 8:45 a.m., small pea-sized hail came down for about three minutes in the Daly City area, along the San Mateo County coast and moved into San Francisco, National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin said. Short bursts of heavy showers are expected today throughout the region, with a high likelihood of thunderstorms, Benjamin said.
He said the intermittent downpours are likely to be accompanied by hail and gusty winds. The storm is coming in from the west and blowing in toward the east, bringing with it cooler temperatures.
The off-and-on rain pattern will continue all day and "grow a little more ominous this afternoon and early evening," Benjamin said.
The rain is expected to taper off by tonight before a weaker storm returns Thursday night and blows into Friday, he said. By the weekend, conditions are expected to dry and warm up, he said.
