This Week: School Starts; Last Week Before Silliman Aquatic Center's Temporary Closure

Also this week, bridge classes for seniors, BINGO and square dancing for all.

 Heads up! Here are five things going on this week that you should know about:

  1. It’s the official start of the 2012-13 school year as students at Newark Unified School District schools begin classes today. For more information about the 2012-13 school year, . Any parents who’d like to share their children’s first day of school pictures with Patch, can add them in our photo gallery here.
  2. Been wanting to take a swim at the Silliman Aquatic Center? This week is your last chance to before the six-month closure of the center’s swimming pools. The Silliman Aquatic Center will be starting on Sept. 4.
  3. Know any seniors who want to learn how to play bridge? An is being held at the on Tuesday. The free class begins at 10 a.m. and is held every Tuesday.
  4. Test your luck by taking part in this Tuesday. Bingo Night at the Newark Pavilion is held every Tuesday. Doors open at 4 p.m., early games begin at 6 p.m. and regular games begin at 7 p.m. For more information, .
  5. Get your do-si-do on on Wednesday. Join the on Wednesday starting at 7 p.m. at the Newark Pavilion to learn all about the art of square dancing.
