Earth Day Celebrations

Earth Day is April 22 and there are several celebrations to choose from in Newark and around the Bay Area. Check out our list of options, large and small.

Celebrate all things green and sustainable at Earth Day events in the Bay Area  beginning this weekend.

Earth Day started in 1970, following a massive oil spill off the Santa Barbara coast. National demonstrations called for increased environmental protections, and are credited with leading to the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency, as well as the passage of the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

The event is now celebrated worldwide, with several notable events nearby.
