Swing Dancing In The Tri City Area!

The Big Band Era is alive and well in Fremont and Swingin' At The Rack on Thursday Evenings keeps it swingin' with live bands, retro dee-jays, and for the uninitiated, dance lessons...all for just $5.00!

Johnny Lee and Shannon Warf of The San Francisco Jitterbugs keep it fun and energetic with the beginning drop in lessons in East Coast Swing (a simplified version of swing dancing, perfectly suited for beginners who want to just have fun on the floor quickly) and Lindy Hop (the original "Jitterbug" dance style of the swingin' '40's) while Richard Perkins and Margot Helm of the Southbay's "For Dancers Only" teach an additional fast swing dance lesson on the second floor.  (They teach Balboa, a dance style that's flashy, fast, n' fun, yet, also "energy efficient" for those who want to dance fast without suffering a coronary!)  ;-)

Local Fremont instructors Mike Quebec and Diana Mo give private lessons in Lindy Hop and Collegiate Shag (another fun n' flashy Jitterbug dance style seen in movie musicals!) at the Rack for those dancers who want to increase their fun level quickly.  (Those are done by arrangement and appointment with students who are interested.)

Swing Dance Champion Carla Heiney also will be conducting special lindy classes with small groups by appointment.

And finally, for the month of May, special guest Balboa instructors Dabney & Karen will fly in, all the way from Arizona, to teach special workshops at The Rack!

It's all to keep the retro swing dance scene alive in the Tri City, and whether you and your friends are 21 or 61, it's all healthy, and it's all fun!

Every Thursday night the doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the lesson with Johnny and Shannon starts at 7:30 p.m.

The additional special group lessons start at 8:00 p.m.

Open dancing is at 9:00 p.m. and runs till Midnight with dee-jayed music provided by none other than Johnny Lee, while the live band for this Thursday May 1st is Rich Werden and The Rhythm Roustabouts, an extremely danceable band that happily keeps you up on the floor (so be ready to soak your feet when you get home!)

The Saddle Rack is located at 42011 Boscell Road, Fremont, CA 94538.
