Newark Memorial High School alumnus launches TerseTag, a new company that combines QR codes and shorttags to share information.

Steven Pungdumri was driving back home to Newark for winter vacation from college in 2010 when he saw something that caught his eye. It was a pick up truck with a "For Sale" flier – full of details on how to contact the owner. But with his hands on the steering wheel and his foot on the gas pedal, it was impossible for the now 25-year-old Newark resident to write down the information on that flier. A new e-magazine has hit the Internet thanks to two Newark residents. Co-founders Mark Helton and Christopher Wecks have launched Fictionade Magazine – an e-magazine that also serves as a website that allows fiction writers to preserve copyright ownership for their creative works through. AutoZone Store Now Open

Now you can get in the zone without leaving Newark. The newly constructed Autozone in Newark's Four Corners commercial district is officially open for business. The 6,640 square-feet building stands at 35060 Newark Blvd., where the former Cattlemen’s restaurant once stood, and is adjacent to a 4,360-square-foot building that will be divided into two retail spaces, developer Don Imwalle has said in previous interviews with Patch. One of those tenants is said to be Starbucks, which will be a relocation of the current Starbucks coffee shop located near Baskin Robbins in the Newark Marketplace Plaza, according to Community Development Director Terrence Grindall. Video: "Flea Market Wars" Opening Weekend

The market where the pilot of a reality TV show, "Flea Market Wars," is set to film showcased 53 vendors from the Bay Area on Sunday.

A flea market that's to be the setting for a new reality show called Flea Market Wars last weekend at the Logan High School parking lot in Union City. Executive Producer Michael Gouvea said there were 53 vendors on the first day. He hopes 150 vendors will frequent the weekly market in order to make it a large community gather. Those vending included some local businesses such as Comic and Figure Addicts, a local independent store in Union City that specializes in rare and vintage collectibles. Among the more unique vendors was Debra Salen, who rolled into Logan parking lot early Sunday morning with her 1967 trailer. The vintage trailer — a "mobile retro retail experience" — was stuffed with travel memorabillia, trinkets and treasures. …
