Saloon Goes Beyond the Bubbly
Whiskeytown serves up unique holiday specials and house favorites on New Year's Eve.
Whiskeytown Saloon will serve up house specialties – classic margaritas, Texas tea and your choice of champagne-juice concoctions – on New Year's Eve, according to bartenders. And if you still crave a drink with a kick on New Year's Day, you can try Whiskeytown's Next Morning Bloody Mary.
If you like what you sip, check out Whiskeytown's own recipes for margaritas and Texas tea below.
The Thornton Avenue tavern will be open until 2 a.m., ringing in the New Year. Patrons can enjoy big-screen TVs, pool tables, an internet jukebox and games along with their drinks.
At this Newark bar, pool players may try to master one of the only L-shaped pool tables in the country. Another crowd favorite is the red Boxer Tournament machine. The player who hits the boxing glove the hardest earns the most points. As of 10 p.m. Thursday, the highest score was set at 995.
Whiskeytown bartenders are known for mixing unique concoctions, and New Years Eve will be no different.
Whiskeytown patrons may take advantage of a special, lower price for margaritas on New Year's Eve.
Texas Tea is another specialty that they recommends to patrons.
Champagne will be a big drink of the night, according to bartenders. They say they will also have a free champagne toast for bar patrons at midnight.
Whiskeytown will be prepared with mimosas and other champagne cocktails, including champagne and cranberry juice.
According to bartenders, patrons can have their champagne drink mixed with any juice at the bar.

When you find yourself with an Entertainment Shortage, grab yourself a Cheap Seat at the Adjacent Taco Bell and just watch the Fireworks! There's often Drama at this Establishment and it's known for being a NPD Favorite.

There's definitely no Entertainment Shortage with 12 fifty-six inch tv's, one beautifully clear 12-foot tv screen, a very popular punching bag machine, 4 pool tables, one L-shaped pool table, a fooseball table, a counter-top touch screen which offers numerous different games, karaoke on Sunday's & Monday's from 7pm to 11 pm , often with KFC, Taco Bell or different kinds of free munchies being served at Whiskeytown saloon. Oops, I almost forgot to mention they also have free Wi-Fi, Wii & an X-box and even more. Every establishment has some drama going on occasionally, but as far as Newark PD is concerned, they find WT very boring in the past year so WT doesn't get to see them very often, however, on occasion, they will stop by to say hello and to see that we are safe and WT and their good patrons appreciate that very much...thank you for your service NPD!

Mary,
I will agree that NPD have had less problems at WT this year compared to past, so far.... You may not see NPD inside WT, but at least three times a week I will often find an NPD Suv parked between Taco Bell and Check Cashing just sitting there observing all the patrons standing in front.
My buddy and I, he's also a Photographer hunting Police Action in the area have a bet going about WT. So far, NPD have been in the parking lot observing nearly every time except for three nights. Instead of betting money, If either of us wins the bet we gotta part with a Filter, or a Lens, or whatever else we have that the other wants for a week.

Thank you for recognizing and acknowledging WT has had less problems this past year (from Feb. 2010 to date) than in the past couple of years, James.
NPD may be parked between Taco Bell and the Check Cashing place because Taco Bell was robbed by some teenagers not too long ago. There is also a "street people" problem in almost all shopping centers. The Business Owners Association of this shopping center have asked the police to help with this problem…the "street people" seem to disappear when there is a police presence in the area.
Police everywhere pay attention to people coming in and out of bars for many reasons. They may be watching for problem people coming from the bar, but they aren't finding any here because most of our patrons have designated drivers, use cabs, or walk home.
A police presence doesn't necessarily mean they are trying to intimidate or harass anyone. They have not tried to intimidate WT in this past year, and I don't expect that they will in the future. Maybe they're just doing their job?
I don't understand your statement "NPD have been in the parking lot observing nearly every time except for three nights". Are you in the parking lot observing the police EVERY night? If not, how would you know how often they are there? If you are, it seems awfully strange, you have nothing else to do?
As for making bets, I don't believe there is anything to bet on James; thank you for the offer though. Have a good one. :)
