Patch to Debut Pet of the Week

Learn how to adopt pets from the Tri-City Animal Shelter.

In the coming weeks, Patch will debut a new feature: Pet of the Week.

This weekly column will feature animals up for adoption at the Tri-City Animal Shelter. You’ll learn more about the animals, what their personalities are like and what kind of home they need.

In the meantime, here is some information provided by the City of Fremont’s Animal Services Department that you might find useful if you end up falling in love with one of the animals to be highlighted.

How To Adopt:

  • Every individual within the animal will live in must visit the animal at the shelter prior to the adoption.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to adopt a pet. A valid ID is required.
  • Adoption fees are paid at the time of adoption. Adoption fees are non-refundable.
  • If you are renting your home, written approval from your landlord is required.

  • Not all animals staying at the shelter are available for adoption.
  • All animals that are available for adoption have passed behavioral evaluations.
  • All animals at the shelter must be spayed or neutered and microchipped before they are adopted from the Tri-City Animal Shelter.
  • Animals are available to view during normal shelter hours

  • Dogs: $171-$175
    • Adoption: $24
    • Spay or neuter: $91
    • ID Microchip: $36
    • Rabies vaccination: $10
    • One year license deposit: $10-14
  • Cats: $124-$136
    • Adoption: $24
    • Spay or neuter: $54
    • ID Microchip: $36
    • Rabies vaccination: $10
    • One year license deposit: $12 (Fremont residents only)
    • FIV/FeLV Test: $29 (Optional)
  • Rabbits: $104-$114
  • Adoption: $24
  • Spay female: $54
  • Neuter male: $44
  • Identification microchip: $36

The Tri-City Animal Shelter is located at 1950 Stevenson Boulevard in Fremont. It serves the cities of Fremont, Newark, Union City and San Leandro.
