Man Wanted For Attempted Murder Arrested
A 35-year-old man was arrested in connection to an attempted murder in Stockton after officers responded to the 5100 block of Dupont Avenue around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday. The man was not immediately compliant and additional units responded before he surrendered. He is behind held at Santa Rita Jail on a $1 million bail.
Car Set On Fire
Alameda County firefighters fought off a vehicle fire on the 6100 block of Bellhaven Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Thursday. Newark police officers who responded to the scene found a melted plastic jug on the roof of the vehicle, and only the exterior of the car was damaged. Investigations revealed that a flammable liquid was poured on the roof before the car was set on fire, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
Woman Goes On Shopping Spree With Stolen Credit Card
Police officers responded to Macy’s at NewPark Mall after they were informed that two women had made several purchases with a stolen credit card. Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers then found a 21-year-old Alameda woman and she was arrested on suspicion of forgery and resisting arrest. The other woman was released, because officers learned she was not involved in the theft.
Shooting Injures One
A U.S. Borders and Customs officer was shot outside of his one-story home on the 7700 block of Mayhews Landing Road just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. Police have said that the 61-year-old Newark resident has remained in critical condition. Dennis Bagwell, 61, of Piedmont was arrested in connection to the shooting. He is facing an attempted murder charge and is being held on no bail at Santa Rita Jail.
FBI Wants Six Fugitives, Including Newark Man
Six men are wanted by the FBI in connection to narcotics trafficking and gang activity. One of the six is said to have had a listed address in Newark. Click here for the full report.
Burglary and Theft
Two men, ages 20, were arrested and cited on suspicion of theft from Sears at NewPark Mall on Sunday.
A 20-year-old transient out of Fremont was arrested on suspicion of theft after officers responded to NewPark Mall to a report of a “grab and run” at Target around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday. They found the man in a creek, running under the freeway into Fremont. He was booked into Fremont Jail.
Police arrested a 22-year-old Newark man at 2 a.m. on Monday on suspicion of burglary after a homeowner reported that he saw someone climb into his a bathroom window of his home on Jonathan Drive. The man then jumped outside the same window and an officer saw him running down the street. He was booked into Fremont Jail.
Drugs and Alcohol
A 22-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance on the 35900 block of Parkshore Drive on Sunday.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sales at Thornton Avenue at Ash Street on Sunday.
A 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident after officers responded to a hit-and-run accident on Crestmont Avenue around 12:20 a.m. on Saturday and found the suspect’s car on Locust Street.
A 23-year-old man was arrested and cited on suspicion of possession of marijuana in a vehicle at Thornton Avenue and Olive Street around 9 p.m. on Feb. 10.
Miscellaneous
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of pimping and pandering and driving without a license at the E-Z 8 Motel on Sunday.
